On a remote space station, the supercomputer PERPLEX-O-TRON 5000 has downloaded the latest software update and must reboot. Unfortunately, none of the computational assistance droids can remember the supercomputer password.
Players must identify the password to the supercomputer!
Robot Reboot is a classroom game that blends mathematical practice with escape room-style puzzle elements.
To unravel the mystery, participants must gather and interpret clues. One step of this process requires completing a mathematical practice puzzle to construct an important piece of evidence.
Three "puzzle" documents are available for download. The puzzle format is the same for all three of these documents; they differ only in terms of the mathematics content they contain. Before playing the game, choose one of the puzzle topics.
Topic choices for this Math Mystery include:
- Simplify integer expressions
- Given two points, find the slope of the line that passes through both points
- Given a quadratic function in standard form, identify the vertex of its parabola
